Teen Jiu-Jitsu
in Bastrop

Confidence, discipline, and real skills that stick — off the screen and onto the mat. No-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Bastrop for teenagers, taught by a black belt.

More than a sport

Built For The Teenage Years

The teen years are when confidence, discipline, and self-respect get built — or don't. Jiu-jitsu is one of the best places to build them.

On the mat there are no shortcuts and no faking it. Teens learn to set goals, handle adversity, lose and come back, and earn progress through effort — lessons that follow them into the classroom and the rest of life. They get off the screen, burn real energy, and join a community of disciplined people who hold them to a higher standard.

  • Confidence earned through real skill, not empty hype.
  • Discipline & focus that carries into school and home.
  • Real self-defense and serious fitness, no screens required.

Why it works

What Teens Get On The Mat

Skills that matter far beyond jiu-jitsu — built one class at a time.

Confidence & Respect

Knowing you can handle yourself changes how you carry yourself. Teens grow calmer, more confident, and more respectful — toward others and themselves.

Discipline & Focus

Showing up, drilling, and chasing real progress builds work ethic and focus that pay off in the classroom and at home.

Fitness & Self-Defense

A serious full-body workout and genuinely useful self-defense — leverage and technique that work regardless of size or strength.

How teens train

Coached At Their Level

Teens 13 and up train in our adult no-gi classes — paired thoughtfully and coached at their pace.

Training alongside disciplined adults is part of what makes jiu-jitsu so good for teenagers: they're held to a real standard, learn from positive role models, and rise to it. New teens are taught the fundamentals carefully and never thrown in over their heads. (Younger kids ages 5–12 have our dedicated Kids program.)

Parent questions

What Parents Ask

What age can teens start jiu-jitsu?

Teens around 13 and up train in our adult no-gi classes, where they're coached at their level. Younger kids (ages 5–12) have our dedicated Kids program.

Do teens really train with the adults?

Yes — teens 13+ train in the adult classes, paired thoughtfully and coached at their pace. Training alongside disciplined adults is a big part of why it builds maturity and confidence so quickly.

Is it safe for teenagers?

Yes. Training is controlled and progressive — teens drill technique before any live rounds and always control the intensity. Coach Gabe keeps the room safe and respectful.

My teen has never done martial arts. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Most students start with no experience. Beginners are welcomed every week and taught the fundamentals step by step.

What should my teen wear?

A t-shirt and athletic shorts (no zippers or pockets) and a bottle of water. No gi or special gear is needed to start.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes — the first class is completely free, no commitment. Book online and let your teen try it out.

"Such a positive place to train. The atmosphere is relaxed yet motivating, and everyone is supportive. Gabe makes sure every student feels seen. It's rare to find a gym that's equally welcoming to beginners while still challenging upper belts — this one nails it."
